All interested third grade and fourth grade students submit an application at the end of the school year. If selected they become part of the production team as fourth or fifth graders. Selected students are divided into five teams to produce LPE's daily morning news show. We feature segments such as; "What's For Lunch?", "Birthday Shout Outs!", "News Bits!", and "Special Reports!" reporting the news that is important to everyone at LPE. By incorporating "Green Screen" technology we are able to give our show a more professional look, pleasing both our audience and the production team. On air personalities include two anchors and special reporter(s). Step behind the scene and you will meet our technician (floor manager), digital mixer, sound artist(s), computer graphics engineer, and title maker. Team members are also encouraged to contribute stories for the script. All team members are trained and rotate positions. The team is very busy each morning as we start our show prep at 7:30 a.m. The technician (floor manager) boots the equipment, the teleprompter uploads the script for our anchors to practice, while other members of the team update credits and lunch menu, prepare for their special report, choose the music, select the sound effets, prepare the graphics and decide which transitions will be used when switching cameras. Everyone is focused on their job. A visitor on set once referred to our practice time time as a "three ring circus". We are getting ready for the "Main Even!" Many colorful guests have appeared on air to encourage our students to explore and expand their horizons. Stop by your child's classroom and watch our daily morning news show live at 7:55 a.m.
