Welcome to Lake Placid, winner of the "Outstanding Rural Community of the Year 1996".
Lake Placid offers its residents many beautiful lakes and golf courses. We are located in central Florida within 150 miles of the major population centers of the state. Lake Placid is known as the "Caladium Capital of the World". We grow over 90 percent of the most beautiful caladiums displayed all over the globe.
In our small community you will see many picturesque murals depicting the history and heritage of our town. Visitors from the community enjoy coming on our school campus to interact with the staff and students while viewing the mural painting of "Florida Beautiful: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow".
