Reading

My classroom is an accelerated section of the 5th grade, especially in the area of reading and math. This year, each week, we will be working with a story out of our 5th Grade Harcourt Storytown Reading text book. Each story will focus on a specific skill and has accompanying vocabulary. The following is a list of the themes in our text and the five stories that accompany those themes. Please check your child's planner or our online calendar to determine which story they are working on for the week. You can visit the Harcourt Storytown website to view activities that accompany each story.

Additionally, we will be simultanioulsy reading a selection of novels over a longer period of time. Students will also have at-home projects that will accompany each novel.
